Since moving back to crunchy land, southern California, in late 2008, I have tried to focus on eating healthy. I was about 50 pounds more than my standard non post pregnancy body and determined to lose weight. Diets weren’t my thing and I never did well with them. My mom got me into hiking and high protein eating when I moved back, but I knew nothing about the paleo diet.
After losing about 30 or 40 pounds, I started to focus on health more than weight. I dabbled a little with raw food and was intrigued with eating food to nourish and cooking (or preparing) food using only ingredients that provided nutritional value. I did a raw food cleanse for three weeks at one point. I noticed my psoriasis improved tremendously. Though I didn’t feel that “amazing feeling” I read so much about. I just missed tacos, pizza and beer too much and felt deprived….
